This week, I decided to revisit the first line of products I kickstarted my natural hair care journey with. So this weeks review will be on Maui Moisture’s Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter line. This line is marketed to work best for dry, damaged hair. They use shea butter, coconut oil, and macadamia nut oil to help nourish and moisturize the hair.

The Shampoo
This shampoo is THICCCK and it smells amazing! It has a nice light and sweet aroma, which you can smell in the other products as well. A little really goes a long way with this product (I learned that the hard way). I really loved how this shampoo made my hair feel super soft while I was cleansing. Some shampoos can make my hair feel a bit dried out from washing, but the coconut oil and shea butter definitely helped keep my hair moisturized throughout the cleansing portion of my wash!

The Conditioner:
The smell of this conditioner is the same as the shampooo: light and sweet. It is really soft and creamy to touch, but I don’t feel as though it really melted into my hair the way that others do. It felt like it was just sitting on the strands, and it kind of dripped out of my hair very easily. I felt like I needed to use a lot in order to really feel the conditioner work into my hair.
On top of that, the slip wasn’t amazing, so I had a pretty difficult time finger detangling my hair. I needed to use a comb to detangle which isn’t the worst thing in the world. I typically try to finger detangle with my conditioner then detangle with a comb when I apply the deep conditioner to ensure the mask reaches all my strands. As I washed out this conditioner though, my hair did feel noticeably softer.

Deep Conditioner
Last but not least, the hair mask. Like the conditioner, the hair mask is very creamy. The smell isn’t as sweat as the other two products, you can definitely smell more of the macadamia nut. Like the conditioner, it felt like I needed to put a lot on my hair to feel the same effects. The slip was okay, I had to detangle the rest of the knots out with my comb.
I washed the mask out of my hair after leaving it on for 30 minutes under my deep conditioning cap. My hair definitely absorbed the oils in the mask and my hair definitely felt more moisturized!
Final Thoughts
I really do love the way this line smells! I will definitely use more of the shampoo since I liked the balance of moisture with the cleansing agents. I was also pleasantly surprised by the results of the hair mask, so I will be using that product again. However, I wasn’t a big fan of the conditioner, so it’s definitely not my first product of choice.
If you’d like to give any of these products a try, you can find them at Maui Moisture online shop, Ulta Beauty, Target, Wal-Mart, and at other select retailers.

Next up on my list to try from Maui Moisture is the Curl Quench + Coconut Oil line! Funny story, I was supposed to review that line as well in this blog post, but home girl accidentally bought two shampoos and confused the styling cream for a hair mask 🤦🏽♀️. When did I figure out I made this mistake? As I was reaching for what I thought the bottle of conditioner was while I was in the shower! Haha, gotta love it!
Either way, I’m really excited to try the correct products in that line, since I really liked the conditioner and the way the curl smoothie made my hair feel! Stay tuned for the next one!
