Over the past year, I have added some new routines into my day, binged many shows, and added a few hobbies to pass the time. As the days passed by and the pandemic droned on, I became comfortable in my monotonous routine. Wake up, go to work, walk the dog, make dinner, watch tv, go to sleep. This year, I really want to challenge myself. Not only to explore and try new things, but also to take myself out of my comfort zone and rediscover myself. Here are some ways I want to do this!

My Hair
But Taylor, you already do so much with your hair?! You’re right! Last year, I discovered how to take care of my natural hair. This year, I want to experiment with hairstyles and styling techniques, trying something new every month. One of the curly hair influencers I follow, Bianca Rene, is encouraging her followers to try something new by leading a “Switch It Up Challenge.” Although I don’t think I will switch it up every day or every week, her switch it up challenge has inspired me to want to do the same!

Singing
Singing used to be a big part of my life. All throughout middle school, high school and college, I performed in musicals, talent nights, and concerts. Singing was always a part of who I am and a way for me to relieve stress. Now that I am out of school, I am also very out of practice. I’d like to take more time to redevelop my voice and start singing again. I will do my best to tackle a new song every week or every other week. Starting with some that I have sang in the past, and then building to new ones I may not be as comfortable with! And who knows, I may end up posting them on social media.. or maybe I’ll just keep them to myself. Still haven’t decided that part yet!

Writing
This isn’t anything new for me since I am writing this blog. However there are a few projects I started over the years that I would like to finish. Three very different Novels and Novellas that I haven’t had the time to complete. This year, I want to dedicate some of my time to one of these stories. I’m not sure if I want to try to publish the stories as I finish them or just leave it as another one of my hobbies, but it’s been bothering me that I have these characters with a lot of unfinished business on my mind. I owe it to them to tell their story.
Staying true to my blog post from last week, I will make sure to use these challenges as a guideline. If thing’s are too much and I fall behind, it will be okay! I have time to pick thing’s up where I leave them. Here’s to taking on new challenges and trying new things!
Naturally, Taylor 💙
